Three active fires in Chaves and Boticas
Three forest fires are currently active in the municipalities of Chaves and Boticas, in the Vila Real district. As of 10:45 on Sunday, 170 operatives and four aerial assets were battling a fire in Ventozelo (Chaves), while two separate fires in Boticas (Ardãos and Nogueira) were being fought with additional ground and aerial resources.
Why it mattersIf you are in or traveling through the Chaves or Boticas areas, be aware of active wildfires and smoke, avoid the affected areas to keep roads clear for emergency vehicles, and follow the latest instructions from local civil protection authorities.
