Teachers call for more investment in education and career appreciation

Teachers' unions have criticized the proposed 2027 State Budget (OE2027), which allocates 7.78 billion euros to education, a nominal increase of 1.5%. Unions argue this represents a real-term growth of only 0.8% when accounting for inflation, labeling it insufficient to address structural needs or provide new investment beyond fulfilling existing commitments. The budget is scheduled for a general debate and vote on October 27-28, with the final global vote set for November 24.
