Study on Algarve waste to evaluate mechanical and biological treatment proposal by ZERO

The Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) is launching a study to evaluate waste treatment options for the Algarve, including a mechanical and biological treatment (TMB) proposal from the environmental association ZERO. The proposed solution involves installing two TMB units near the existing landfills in Loulé and Portimão to divert approximately 70% of waste from landfills, which the association claims is faster and cheaper than the incineration method currently under consideration by the government.
