Brussels authorizes Portuguese government support for farmers in the Azores

The European Commission has approved a 3 million euro aid package for farmers in the Azores to offset rising fuel and fertilizer costs incurred during the second quarter of 2026. Eligible agricultural businesses can receive direct grants of up to 50,000 euros each, with specific subsidies set per hectare and per animal based on 2025 records, alongside compensation of 11 cents per liter of agricultural diesel consumed between 1 April and 30 June 2026.
