Strike by non-teaching school staff closes schools across the country
A 24-hour strike by non-teaching staff (operational and technical assistants) called by the SINAPE union caused closures in various schools across the country today, 19 October, with the union reporting an estimated 70% adherence. While some schools in Lisbon, Amadora, Viseu, Aveiro, Coimbra, and the Algarve remain open or partially functional, others have been forced to close due to a lack of staff to manage facilities.
