Scholarships: 161 euros for displaced students without a rental contract

The new Higher Education scholarship regulation increases the monthly housing supplement for displaced scholarship students to 30% of the Indexante de Apoios Sociais (IAS), approximately 161 euros in 2026. A rental contract is no longer required for eligibility, and students who cannot secure a place in a university residence are eligible for an additional top-up based on the estimated cost of private housing in their study municipality (e.g., up to 500 euros in Lisbon, 419 euros in Porto, and 338 euros in Coimbra). These changes take effect for the 2026-2027 academic year.
