Price of bottled gas expected to hit €40 by year end

The consumer association Deco Proteste warns that the price of a standard 13kg butane gas cylinder could reach €40 by the end of 2026. Data from the energy regulator shows the average price already climbed from €34.11 in January to over €37.50 in October, with further increases expected due to the two-month lag in wholesale price adjustments and geopolitical tensions. The association is advocating for a reduction in the VAT rate on gas from 23% to 6%.
