Preventive HIV treatment in community organizations provided for on paper, but "lacks funding"
A new DGS directive allows for the distribution of PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV) through local health centers and community organizations. However, these associations are currently unable to initiate these consultations due to a lack of allocated funding.
Why it mattersWhile the rule has officially expanded access to PrEP beyond hospital pharmacies to local community organizations, the lack of funding means these local services are not yet operational, so you may still need to rely on hospital-based services for now.
