Press review: Rising housing prices dominate newspaper headlines

Official data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) shows that house prices increased in over 90% of municipalities in the second quarter of 2026. In nearly half of the country, prices rose by more than 20% compared to the same period in 2025, while the median price per square metre has risen by 380 euros nationally between June 2025 and June 2026. Housing costs have outpaced wage growth, with property values rising four times faster than the average gross income per worker over the same 12-month period.
