Portugal presents China with proposal for mutual recognition of diplomas

The Portuguese government has submitted a formal proposal to China for the mutual recognition of academic degrees (bachelor's, master's, and doctoral). This move aims to unblock a long-standing impasse and facilitate the future mobility of students and faculty between the two countries, with technical negotiations continuing on Tuesday, 20 October.

Why it matters

If you hold Chinese academic qualifications or are a researcher/student looking to move between the two countries, this proposal could eventually simplify the validation of your credentials in Portugal, though no agreement is in place yet.
