Porto Metro starts tests on the Pink Line
The new Pink Line (G) in Porto has begun dynamic testing of its full three-kilometre route between Casa da Música and São Bento. These initial 'clearance' tests, intended to ensure vehicle compatibility with the tunnel infrastructure, are scheduled to continue until the end of next week, October 16, 2026. Commercial passenger service is expected to begin by the end of the first quarter of 2027.
Why it mattersWhile the line is not yet open to the public, these tests confirm that progress toward its 2027 opening is underway, which will eventually add a new fully underground connection within Porto city center.
