Parliament lifts immunity of the Transparency Committee president Rui Paulo Sousa

The Assembly of the Republic unanimously voted to lift the parliamentary immunity of Rui Paulo Sousa, president of the Transparency Committee, following a request from the Amadora Judicial Court. He faces accusations of illicit photography and discrimination/incitation to hatred stemming from social media posts and images shared during his municipal campaign in Amadora. Sousa has suspended his duties as committee chair and will be formally interrogated as a defendant in the proceedings.
