Oral version of Wegovy may have more effects than the injectable, company says
Clinical data presented by the manufacturer indicates that patients who switched from injectable Wegovy to an oral semaglutide version experienced an average weight loss of 4.1% over three months. The oral version does not require refrigeration and is currently only available as an injectable pen in Portugal, although reports from August suggested a potential local arrival soon.
Why it mattersIf you are currently prescribed Wegovy for weight loss, be aware that while an oral version is being discussed internationally with promising results, it is not yet available in Portugal; if it arrives, it may offer a more portable, non-refrigerated alternative to your current injectable.
