New TVDE regime law enters into force today

The new law (Lei nº 59/2026) governing ride-hailing services (TVDE) takes effect today, 1 September 2026. Major changes include the integration of the taxi sector into the TVDE regime, allowing taxis to operate via ride-hailing platforms if requirements are met, and the introduction of a new mandatory, secure, and irremovable identification sticker for all vehicles operating in the sector.
