New protests scheduled after night of police clashes and tent clearances in Lisbon and Porto

Police intervened around 02:00 on Sunday, 25 October 2026, clearing tent encampments from Praça do Rossio in Lisbon and Praça D. João I in Porto following clashes that left dozens injured and arrested. The Acampada movement has called a new demonstration for 17:00 today in Lisbon and 19:00 in Porto, while the Casa Para Viver platform scheduled a further protest outside the Assembly of the Republic for Tuesday, 27 October 2026 at 18:30 as MPs debate housing proposals in the state budget.
