MURPI demands explanations from CGA regarding pension errors
The Caixa Geral de Aposentações (CGA) is correcting 2,937 pensions calculated incorrectly between May and August 2026. Affected pensioners face a reduction in monthly payments (averaging 93.31 euros gross) and are being asked to repay overpaid amounts. They have 10 days from the receipt of their individual notification to respond via a prior hearing, after which they can choose to pay the debt in one lump sum within 30 days, through automatic monthly deductions (up to 30% of the pension value), or in installments until December 2027.
Why it mattersIf you are a CGA pensioner who received a notice about a calculation error, you must respond to the prior hearing within 10 days to avoid forced repayment terms.
