Most used Euribor rate for housing loans approaches 3% and hits new high since 2024

The 6-month Euribor, the most common index for variable-rate mortgages in Portugal, rose to 2.999% as of September 22, 2026, marking its highest level since October 2024. Conversely, the 3-month rate fell to 2.608% and the 12-month rate dipped to 3.332%.

Why it mattersIf you have a variable-rate mortgage linked to the 6-month Euribor, your monthly payment will increase slightly as a result of this rise.
