More than half of patients wait beyond the legal limit for their first oncology consultation
Over 50% of patients waiting for their first oncology consultation in the national health service (SNS) are doing so beyond the legally defined maximum response time (TMRG). As of the end of June, there were 1.2 million people in total waiting for a first specialist consultation across all medical fields, with cardiology performing particularly poorly, as 89% of appointments in the first half of the year exceeded the legal deadlines.
