More than 50 municipalities in seven districts at maximum wildfire risk
The weather institute (IPMA) has placed more than 50 municipalities across seven districts—Castelo Branco, Guarda, Coimbra, Santarém, Leiria, Portalegre, and Faro—at maximum wildfire risk today, Monday. Additionally, a yellow heat warning is in effect until 18:00 today for 15 districts, with high risk levels expected to persist in some regions until Friday, September 18th.
Why it mattersIf you are in or traveling through the listed districts, you face a heightened wildfire risk and should avoid any activities that could spark a fire, as well as take precautions against the heat today.
