More than 1.36 million patients are without an assigned family doctor
As of the end of August, 1,362,294 registered patients in the health system did not have an assigned family doctor. Of the total 1,089,227 foreign residents registered in the primary health system, over 481,000 were without an assigned physician.
Why it mattersIf you are a resident or immigrant in Portugal, there is a high statistical likelihood that you do not have an assigned family doctor, which may impact your access to routine primary care and necessitate reliance on urgent care or private health services.
