Family doctors: retirements will plummet. Still possible to provide a doctor to everyone by 2029
While 503 family medicine specialists are eligible to retire this year, the number of retirees is expected to drop to fewer than 100 per year starting in 2027. According to the association of Family Health Units (USF), the current rate of training new doctors is sufficient to cover the national need for primary care by the end of the current legislative term in 2029.
