Minister of Finance once again rules out zero VAT on essential goods

The Finance Minister confirmed that the government will not implement a zero VAT policy on essential food items, arguing that a significant portion of the tax savings—estimated at 200 to 300 million euros—would be retained by producers and distributors rather than benefiting consumers. The government intends to continue focusing on direct income support, tax relief, and pension subsidies instead.
