Maximum wildfire risk in about 60 municipalities; see the zones under greatest risk

The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has placed about 60 municipalities in the districts of Bragança, Guarda, Coimbra, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Santarém, and Faro at 'maximum' wildfire risk for this Friday, August 14, 2026. Over 60 additional municipalities are at 'very high' risk, with many others across mainland districts at 'high' risk.

Why it mattersIf you are in or traveling through the listed districts, especially those under maximum risk, avoid any activities that could spark a fire and follow local civil protection instructions closely.
