Madeira detects seven infractions related to discrimination in online sales
The Regional Authority for Economic Activities (ARAE) identified seven cases of geo-blocking and unjustified discrimination against Madeira-based consumers during a July inspection of 120 online retail websites. Six infractions involved restricting access to products based on residence, while one involved redirecting users to an interface with limited or different stock compared to the main site. These practices violate Law No. 7/2022, which protects residents of Madeira and the Azores from such discrimination.
