Lufthansa plans to route Brazil-bound passengers through Lisbon

Following the selection by the Portuguese government to acquire a 44.9% stake in TAP, Lufthansa intends to use Lisbon as its primary hub for South Atlantic long-haul flights, shifting traffic currently routed through Frankfurt, Zurich, or Munich. The proposal includes expanding TAP's fleet to 130 aircraft by 2035, integrating TAP into the Star Alliance transatlantic partnership, and investing in new maintenance facilities in Santa Maria da Feira, a tech hub in Aveiro, and a flight school in Tancos.
