Lisbon 'Acampada' protest estimates 25,000 participants in housing demonstration
The 'Acampada de Lisboa' movement held a large demonstration in central Lisbon today, 24 October, calling for the reversal of rental laws, an end to evictions without housing alternatives, and restrictions on real estate investment funds. Protesters occupied Rossio square with tents following police removal of previous encampments earlier this week; 55 people were detained on Tuesday, 20 October, and are scheduled to appear before a judge on 27 October.
