IPMA extends yellow warning for rain in the Eastern Group of the Azores

The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) extended the yellow warning for the Eastern Group of the Azores (São Miguel and Santa Maria) until midnight on Sunday, 2026-10-04, due to forecasts of heavy rain and possible thunderstorms. Bad weather this Saturday already caused landslides, road obstructions, and stream overflows in Santa Maria, as well as flight cancellations and delays across the archipelago.

Why it mattersIf you are in or traveling to the Azores' Eastern Group, expect potential transport disruptions and be cautious of road hazards due to the heavy rain.

Brazilian citizens living abroad who did not vote in the recent election must submit a justification to the Electoral Justice to avoid status issues. The justification can be submitted via the e-Título app or the 'Título Net' portal until December 3, 2026. If there is a second round, a separate justification must be submitted by January 8, 2027.
