Hospital de Santa Maria and INEM to share health professionals

The Hospital de Santa Maria in Lisbon and the national emergency service (INEM) signed a protocol to share health professionals. Additionally, a new Basic Life Support ambulance base is opening at the hospital, and a Life Support base will open in Mafra on Monday, 2 November.

New system for accessing consultations and surgeries starts in January

The new National System for Access to Consultations and Surgeries (SINACC) will launch in January 2027. The implementation was postponed from its original August 2026 date to allow for revisions to existing regulations following concerns raised by the Order of Physicians regarding the transparency and monitoring of waiting lists.
