Heat is coming! Nine districts under yellow warning on Sunday and Monday
The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) has issued a yellow weather warning for high temperatures across nine mainland districts. The warning is in effect from 09:00 on Sunday, 2026-09-20, until 08:00 on Monday, 2026-09-21, as maximum temperatures are expected to reach up to 38°C in parts of the Alentejo and Tagus Valley.
Why it mattersIf you are in one of the affected districts, be prepared for unusually high temperatures for September and take precautions to avoid heat-related health issues during the peak of the day.
