Guarda and Castelo Branco under yellow warning this afternoon due to rain and thunderstorms

The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) placed the districts of Guarda and Castelo Branco under a yellow warning on Friday, 16 October 2026, due to forecasted thunderstorms, locally heavy rainfall reaching 10 to 20 millimeters in an hour, and hail with a diameter of less than two centimeters. The warning remains in effect until 19:00 tonight.
