GNR warns of 'fake accident' scams. Losses for victims already exceed 72,000 euros

The GNR reported a sharp increase in 'fake traffic accident' scams, with losses totaling 72,540 euros in the first half of 2026—already nearly matching the 77,480 euros lost in all of 2025. Scammers specifically target drivers over 60, simulating collisions to pressure victims into making immediate payments or revealing bank account details.
