Funchal City Council invests 14.7 million euros in housing and doubles tourist tax
The Funchal City Council approved the construction of 72 new housing units in the parish of Santo António for 14.7 million euros. Additionally, the municipal tourist tax will increase from two euros to four euros per night (up to a maximum of seven nights), and a new tax will be applied to cruise ship passengers.
Why it mattersIf you are a resident or a visitor in Funchal, be aware that the municipal tourist tax is doubling to four euros per night and a new tax for cruise passengers is being introduced.
