Four wildfires in the districts of Bragança, Vila Real, Viana do Castelo and Porto mobilize more than 750 firefighters
As of 7:00 on Monday, 750 firefighters are battling four major wildfires across the north, with the most critical fire in Torre de Moncorvo affecting the neighboring municipality of Carrazeda de Ansiães. Separately, the weather institute has placed nearly the entire interior of the north and center of the country under maximum wildfire risk, with a yellow heat warning in effect for all of mainland Portugal.
Why it mattersIf you are in or traveling through the north or central interior, be aware of high wildfire risks, and prepare for heat-related impacts across the country with temperatures reaching up to 40°C in some areas.
