Firefighters' League asks Government for program contract to fund volunteer fire departments

The League of Portuguese Firefighters (LBP) is calling for a formal program contract to replace the current, unpredictable funding model for volunteer firefighter associations. While the Government has pledged an increase of over 5% for fire department funding in the 2027 State Budget, the LBP argues this remains insufficient and unreliable to address chronic underfunding.
