Fire in Arouca "is here to stay" and has four villages "in the line of fire"
A wildfire that began on Monday night in the municipality of Arouca remains active with three fronts, threatening the villages of Bouceguedim, Cando, Rio de Frades, and Pedrógão. Two roads have been closed to traffic: the municipal road between Ponte de Telhe and Rio de Frades, and the 'Estrada dos Militares' connecting Moldes to Cabreiros.
Why it mattersIf you are in or traveling through the Arouca area, avoid the closed roads and follow all instructions from civil protection authorities, as the fire is currently threatening nearby villages.
