Eviction requests have already increased by more than 20% in 2026

The number of eviction requests due to unpaid rent has risen by over 20% so far in 2026. Data shows that approximately 7,400 such requests have been filed over the last five years, representing about 0.5% of the 1.4 million active rental contracts in Portugal.
