EU rules to allow passengers two free cabin bags

New EU regulations expected to take effect around October 2027 will entitle passengers departing from EU airports to one under-seat personal item and a second cabin bag (up to 7kg and 100cm total dimensions) without extra fees. These rules will apply to flights departing from EU countries, including Portugal, but will not apply to departures from non-EU countries like the UK. The overhaul also introduces new protections regarding seat fees for children under 14, flight delay compensation, and the right to use return tickets if an outbound flight is missed.
