Eleven districts under yellow weather warning for heat on Thursday
The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) has issued a yellow warning for high temperatures in 11 districts on Thursday, 2026-09-03, between 10:00 and 19:00. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius in the Tejo Valley, Beira Baixa, and Alentejo regions, with rural fire risk remaining very high across the country.
Why it mattersIf you are in any of the 11 districts under the yellow warning, expect extreme temperatures reaching up to 42°C and take necessary precautions to stay hydrated and avoid sun exposure during the hottest hours on Thursday.
