Elderly with solidarity supplement: medicine offer limited to generics or reference price

The government has introduced new rules for free prescription medicines for beneficiaries of the Solidarity Supplement for the Elderly (CSI). For medicines in a homogeneous group, the maximum additional co-payment is now capped at the reference price; if a prescribed medicine is not a generic, the state's coverage is calculated based on the price of the generic version.

Why it mattersIf you or an elderly family member receive the CSI supplement, free access to medicines is now limited to generic options or up to the reference price, meaning you may have to pay the difference out of pocket if a non-generic version is chosen.
