Cost to ensure electricity grid balance has risen 320% since 2023 and will weigh more on Portuguese bills
The energy regulator (ERSE) has decided to transfer 40% of grid regulation costs currently borne by retailers directly to consumers via grid access tariffs. The change will be phased in, starting with a 25% transfer of the estimated charges in the last quarter of 2026.
