Civil Protection warns of weather forecast favorable to rural fires
The National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) warns of an increased risk of rural fires due to high temperatures, low humidity, and rising wind speeds across the country. Temperatures are expected to exceed 40ºC in the interior South and Tejo valley, with fire risk levels reaching 'very high' to 'maximum' particularly in the interior and the Algarve.
Why it mattersIf you are in areas with high or maximum fire risk, you must avoid lighting fires to cook food, performing agricultural burns, or using mechanical equipment like brush cutters that could spark a fire, as these activities are restricted under current ANEPC rules.
