The PSP police reports that filial violence (children abusing parents) now accounts for 40% to 45% of all domestic violence complaints involving the elderly, whose victims are typically aged 70 to 75. The National Association of Family Health Units (USF-AN) reports that while 682 family doctors are expected to retire between 2026 and 2029, there are currently 1,446 medical residents in training who will complete their specialization by 2029. The association estimates a current shortfall of 785 doctors in the SNS, alongside needs for 280 nurses and 270 clinical secretaries to fully staff family health teams.
