AIMA requires marriage certificate issued within the last six months for residency
AIMA now requires that marriage certificates submitted for family reunification processes be issued no more than six months prior. The agency implemented this rule to prevent backlogs in cases involving spouses of European Union citizens.
Why it mattersIf you are preparing a family reunification application, ensure your marriage certificate is dated within the last six months to avoid having your process stalled or rejected by AIMA.
