ACSS: medical residency vacancy selection model is more transparent
The Central Administration of the Health System (ACSS) has replaced the traditional in-person vacancy selection process for medical residency with an online, asynchronous platform. Candidates will now submit their preferences digitally through a system modeled after university admissions, rather than having to travel to specific locations in Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra, Funchal, or Ponta Delgada at a set date and time.
Why it mattersIf you are a medical student or doctor participating in the residency placement process this year, you no longer need to attend a physical session; you can now submit and update your choices online, though you should monitor the system closely for updates given the ongoing discussions regarding the new platform's fairness.
