64 Portuguese beaches contaminated during the summer were subject to bathing bans or warnings
At least 64 out of 601 monitored beaches recorded episodes of microbiological contamination this summer, with seven of these incidents occurring in the last week. The Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) attributes the increase to extreme drought and winter storms, and currently advises against swimming due to this week's rainfall.
