14 districts under yellow warning for risk of rain and thunderstorms

The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has placed 14 mainland districts under a yellow weather warning today for heavy showers, thunderstorms, hail, and wind gusts of up to 90 km/h. The instability is expected to continue into next week, with more intense showers and thunderstorms forecast for the North and Centre regions on Monday.

Why it mattersIf you live in or are traveling through the districts of Aveiro, Braga, Bragança, Castelo Branco, Coimbra, Guarda, Leiria, Lisboa, Porto, Setúbal, Santarém, Viana do Castelo, Vila Real, or Viseu, expect heavy rain and potential storm disruptions today, and exercise caution due to the risk of hail and strong wind gusts.
