Villages in the North of the country in despair with fire at their doorstep

Large wildfires are threatening multiple villages in the North and Centre of Portugal, with significant mobilization in Arouca, Torre de Moncorvo, and Santo Tirso. The authorities have identified specific villages in Arouca—Bouceguedim, Cando, Rio de Frades, and Pedrogão—as currently being in the direct path of the fire, where emergency crews are actively deployed to protect the buildings.
