Read today’s briefingThe second round of the Brazilian presidential election takes place on Sunday, 25 October, with polls in Portugal open from 08:00 to 17:00. Only voters who transferred their electoral domicile to Portugal by May are eligible to vote, and they must cast their ballot at the same polling station used in the first round. Voters must present a Brazilian photo ID, though the Lisbon consulate is exceptionally accepting Portuguese residency cards and citizen cards for voters in its jurisdiction.
The National Firefighters Census (RNBP) database was breached by hackers who copied personal data of approximately 60,000 registered firefighters. Compromised information includes full names, Citizen Card and tax numbers, social security details, health user numbers, driver's licenses, addresses, and blood types. The system is suspended while security is strengthened, and officials warn that victims may be targeted by phishing, smishing, or vishing scams.
Social media content is circulating calls for "rebellions" in Portugal, specifically at Colombo shopping center in Lisbon on 31 October and Alma Shopping in Coimbra on the same date, as well as Avenida da Liberdade in Lisbon on 24 October. The posts include instructions for participants to wear black masks and incite the looting of shops, supposedly in support of riots in France. The PSP has confirmed it is monitoring these online calls and will take necessary measures to prevent crimes and maintain public order.
