Serpa farmers threaten march in Lisbon

The Serpa agricultural producers' association (APROSERPA) held a slow-moving tractor protest on the EN260 road in Beja today, demanding a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture to discuss rising production costs. The association is calling for the elimination of the carbon tax and VAT on agricultural diesel—measures they estimate could reduce fuel costs by 40 cents per litre—and has threatened further protests in Lisbon if their demands remain ignored.
