Regulator forces private clinics and hospitals to annul patient invoices
The Health Regulatory Entity (ERS) has ordered private healthcare providers to cancel invoices and refund patients for amounts that were not clearly communicated or agreed upon prior to services being provided. The regulator also initiated enforcement proceedings against the institutions involved.
Why it mattersIf you have recently paid for private medical services and were charged unexpected fees that were not disclosed beforehand, you may be entitled to a refund; check your invoices against your original quotes and contact the ERS if you believe you were overcharged without prior warning.
